LiPo Battery Charging Tips

To ensure safe and long-lasting battery use with your airsoft guns we have listed a few tips to keep your guns working in tip top order and keep you safe.

DO:

  • Use a LiPo-compatible charger only.

  • Double-check charger settings:

    • Correct cell count (2S for 7.4v batteries)

    • Appropriate charging current (typically 1C – e.g., for a 1000mAh battery, charge at 1A)

  • Always charge on non-flammable surfaces like ceramic, metal, or concrete.

  • Use a LiPo charging bag for added safety.

  • Monitor batteries while charging and never leave them unattended.

  • Have a fire extinguisher or dry sand bucket nearby during charging.

  • Charge only within 0°C to 50°C temperature range.

DO NOT:

  • Charge batteries inside a gun or any device.

  • Charge near flammable materials or on wood or carpet.

  • Leave batteries in a hot vehicle or charge in a moving car.

  • Charge if the battery is swollen, punctured, or damaged.

  • Allow positive and negative leads to touch — risk of fire or explosion.

  • Use water to extinguish a LiPo fire — use sand or a class D extinguisher.

? LiPo Battery Handling & Storage Tips

DO:

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Store in a fireproof container (metal box, LiPo sack).

  • Store at a partial charge (approx. 3.7–3.8v per cell) if not used for weeks/months.

  • Keep away from metal objects or sharp tools.

  • Discharge fully before disposal, then soak in saltwater for 7 days.

  • Follow local hazardous waste disposal guidelines.

DO NOT:

  • Carry loose batteries in bags or pockets.

  • Expose to water or wet conditions.

  • Store in extreme temperatures (below 0°C or above 50°C).

  • Dispose of in a fire or trash.

? Signs of Battery Trouble

If your LiPo battery shows any of the following, stop using it immediately:

  • Swelling or puffing

  • Excess heat while charging or discharging

  • Unusual smell or noise

  • Visible damage to casing or wires

Place the battery in a safe container, observe for 15 minutes, and dispose of properly.

If you're using this battery for the models listed, make sure your AEP has the correct adapter and wiring setup to accommodate a 7.4v LiPo, as overvolting a lower-rated gearbox may cause premature wear.
