JG 0511MG SVD Airsoft Sniper Rifle with Bipod in Mock Wood Finish
If you've ever found yourself eyeing up the sleek, Cold War-era silhouette of the Dragunov SVD, you’re not alone—and the JG 0511MG delivers that aesthetic with all the practical bits you actually want in a field-ready airsoft sniper rifle. Made by Jing Gong (JG), this airsoft rifle blends rugged design with modern usability, making it a fantastic choice for players who want the look and feel of a designated marksman rifle but still need the functionality of an Airsoft AEG.
Right out of the box, it feels like a serious bit of kit. The combination of a solid metal barrel assembly and tough polymer furniture (moulded in a mock wood finish) gives this rifle a hefty, authentic presence without tipping over into being unmanageable. It’s long—around 116 cm—but it doesn’t feel clumsy thanks to the well-balanced design. You get that satisfying full-length rifle feel without struggling to shoulder it or pivot around corners.
Internally, the JG SVD runs off an electric AEG system, which is a refreshing departure from spring-powered sniper rifles that demand more effort between shots. With Safe, Semi, and Full-Auto firing modes, you’ve got the freedom to switch from slow, accurate single shots to bursts when the pressure’s on. The trigger response is solid, and while it’s not built for spray-and-pray CQB antics, it definitely holds its own when you need to lay down a bit of suppressive fire from a distance.
What’s especially handy is that JG includes both a rechargeable battery and charger in the box—no need to scramble for extras before game day. The stock houses the battery, and the setup is straightforward even for newer players. As for performance, you're looking at around 430 FPS straight out of the box (using 0.20g BBs), so it hits hard enough for long-range work while staying skirmish legal in many outdoor sites. Always double-check your site’s chrono limits, of course.
The adjustable hop-up is smooth to dial in and gives you the control needed to fine-tune your BB trajectory. Once it’s set up right, you’ll be pinging targets out to around 60 metres with solid accuracy. It’s not quite laser-beam precision, but it’s absolutely respectable—and with the included bipod, prone shooting becomes an absolute joy. That extra stability helps when you’re dialled in and waiting for that perfect shot. Ever had that moment where you can feel the shot lining up, and the bipod just keeps things perfectly steady? Yeah, it’s that kind of good.
Externally, the faux wood finish does a cracking job of nailing that vintage Soviet DMR look without sacrificing modern durability. It won’t chip or splinter like real wood, and it shrugs off bangs and bumps without fuss. The metal components—like the barrel, receiver cover, and bipod—bring that authentic weight and feel you want in a rifle that looks this serious.
The 70-round magazine is a nice touch—not massive, but enough to keep you in the fight during longer engagements without having to reload constantly. And with fixed iron sights (front) and an adjustable rear, you can either run it old-school or mount an optic via the side dovetail rail (mount sold separately) for that sniper-scope look. Overall, this is a rifle that feels like it belongs in your hands the moment you pick it up—sturdy, stylish, and surprisingly versatile.
