It’s everything you’d want from a compact airsoft rifle—tough, tight-handling, and loaded with modern upgrades—while still keeping that brutalist Russian carbine aesthetic intact. Based on the AKS-74U platform, but heavily modernised with Z Series furniture, this rifle is built for players who value realism and rock-solid reliability over gimmicks and plastic parts.

Right out of the box, the steel receiver sets the tone. It’s stamped, riveted, and made to take abuse. You’ll feel that reassuring weight the second you pick it up—at 3.4kg, this isn’t a featherweight, but it’s balanced well and feels like a real piece of kit. The steel continues through the outer barrel, gas block, and muzzle device, giving it a no-nonsense field presence that plastic builds just can’t match.

The front end features LCT’s Z Series aluminium handguard system with integrated 20mm Picatinny rails. It’s textured for grip, rock-solid in fit, and gives you room to mount whatever you need—PEQ box, torch, stubby grip, red dot—without turning the front of the gun into a wobbly mess. There’s also a side dovetail mount if you’re going full AK loadout with a Russian optic like a PK-A or Cobra.

FPS is consistent around 390 with 0.20g BBs, and the compression setup keeps things nice and stable.

The 2024 model introduces LCT’s new rotary hop-up, which is a huge step up from older slider-style units. It’s more precise, holds its setting better, and pairs nicely with the 285mm inner barrel to give consistent performance—even with heavier BBs like 0.28g or 0.30g. That makes this compact rifle more than capable outdoors, not just in close quarters.

Battery access is refreshingly simple thanks to the hinged top cover—just pop it open like a car bonnet and you're straight into the wiring. No fiddling with dust covers or springs. It’s wired to Mini Tamiya and fits a 7.4v stick-type LiPo, though it’ll take an 11.1v if you’re pushing for faster cycling and your site allows it.

You get a 130-round mid-cap magazine in the box, made from high-strength polymer. It feeds smoothly and keeps the profile realistic—none of that high-cap wheel winding nonsense here. Combined with sling points and the 24mm CW threaded muzzle for suppressors or tracers, the ZKS-74UN is built to be used, customised, and pushed hard in-game.
