Cybergun FN Herstal Fully Licensed Gas Blowback P90 Personal Defense Weapon in Black
The Cybergun FN Herstal Fully Licensed Gas Blowback P90 Personal Defense Weapon is one of those airsoft guns that refuses to blend into the background. Manufactured by Armorer Works for Cybergun under official FN Herstal licence, it recreates the unmistakable P90 shape with authentic trademarks, a reinforced polymer body and a proper gas blowback action. Pull the trigger and you get movement, noise and a solid kick through the shoulder rather than the smoother feel of an Airsoft AEG. For players who enjoy a bit of mechanical character from their kit, that makes a big difference.
The P90's bullpup layout is the clever bit. Instead of positioning the action and magazine ahead of the trigger like a conventional airsoft rifle, everything is pushed rearwards. This keeps the overall length down to approximately 515mm while still accommodating a 250mm inner barrel. In practical terms, it handles beautifully through doorways, tight corridors and awkward bits of cover. Bring it up from low ready and there's very little rifle swinging around in front of you. For CQB, woodland structures and vehicle-based scenarios, that compact Personal Defence Weapon layout can be seriously handy.
Externally, the black body is made from high-density reinforced polymer, backed up by metal components throughout the barrel assembly and operating system. At roughly 1.8kg, there's enough weight to make the P90 feel substantial without turning it into a brick after an afternoon of skirmishing. The integrated thumbhole grip and moulded front grip give you a surprisingly natural shooting position too. P90s can look a little odd from across the room. Get one into your shoulder, though, and the ergonomics suddenly click. It points quickly, stays tucked close to the body and makes swapping between targets feel almost instinctive.
Moving to the front, you'll find an alloy multi-port flash hider fitted to a standard 14mm CCW male threaded outer barrel. Remove the flash hider and you've got a familiar mounting point for compatible tracer units, suppressors and other muzzle accessories. Up top is a 20mm Picatinny rail with plenty of room for a compact red dot or other suitable optic, accompanied by removable side accessory rails. Those side sections are useful for compatible torches and other airsoft accessories, but can be removed when you fancy the cleaner classic P90 profile. Built-in open sights also mean an optic isn't essential.
Ambidextrous controls are another area where this FN Herstal P90 GBB really earns its keep. Charging handles sit on both sides, the magazine release is accessible from either hand and the rotary Safe, Semi and Full Auto selector is positioned beneath the trigger. Switching shoulders around barricades doesn't leave you hunting for controls on the wrong side of the gun. It's a small thing until you're actually moving through a site under pressure. Then? Very useful indeed. The compact sub machine gun-style handling and centrally balanced bullpup design make this an especially interesting choice for players who regularly transition between their left and right shoulders.
The gas system is where this P90 gets particularly unusual. The top-mounted 50-round translucent magazine retains the distinctive appearance of the original firearm, while an internal gas reservoir arrangement allows the replica to deliver genuine gas blowback operation within that unconventional layout. Running on Green Gas, each shot cycles the action and gives the gun a lively recoil impulse. Ever used a standard electric P90 and wished it had a little more drama? Yeah, this answers that question. The magazine's translucent construction also lets you keep an eye on your remaining BBs without completely breaking concentration during a game.
Performance is quoted at approximately 350 FPS using 0.20g BBs, with quality 0.25g ammunition making a sensible starting point for skirmish use. An adjustable rotary hop-up allows you to tune the flight of your chosen BB weight and is accessed through the magazine well. As you'd expect from a gas blowback airsoft gun, temperature, gas choice and maintenance can affect performance, so keeping the moving components appropriately lubricated and the seals in good condition is worthwhile. The reward is a much more involving shooting experience than you'd normally get from an electric platform, particularly when firing in Semi Auto and feeling the action cycle with every shot.
There's plenty here for collectors and mechanically minded players as well. Press the disassembly control and the upper receiver can slide forward in a process closely inspired by the real P90, giving convenient access for routine maintenance. It's a neat touch and fits the character of the whole replica: unusual, functional and satisfyingly mechanical. Compatibility with WE and Armorer Works P90 GBB magazines also gives existing owners a useful route for expanding their loadout. If your collection is already drowning in AR-pattern airsoft rifles, this officially licensed FN P90 offers something genuinely different without sacrificing practical skirmish usability.
Put everything together and the Cybergun FN Herstal Gas Blowback P90 is a cracking option for players drawn to compact GBB platforms, realistic operation and authentic licensed detailing. You get the famous futuristic silhouette, 14mm CCW muzzle threading, adjustable hop-up, 50-round magazine, fully ambidextrous controls and Safe, Semi and Full Auto firing modes in a package measuring only around half a metre long. It's quick around corners, entertaining to shoot and packed with personality. Add the official FN Herstal markings and realistic field stripping, and you've got an airsoft gun that feels equally at home being run hard during CQB games or taking pride of place in a collection.
