Description

EMG Strike Industries SI-90 AEG Bullpup Airsoft Rifle in Black

The EMG Strike Industries SI-90 AEG Bullpup Airsoft Rifle in Black takes the unmistakable P90 design and gives it a thoroughly modern tactical makeover. Officially licensed by Strike Industries through EMG and manufactured by King Arms, this futuristic-looking airsoft gun combines the compact proportions of a classic bullpup submachine gun with a redesigned ergonomic chassis, aluminium upper assembly and programmable electronic trigger system. Based around the Strike Industries modular chassis for the FN PS90 platform, the SI-90 retains the distinctive top-mounted magazine arrangement while replacing much of the traditional P90 furniture with something considerably more contemporary. The result is a compact Airsoft AEG that looks as though it belongs in a science-fiction armoury, yet the improvements are grounded in practical airsoft use. There's an adjustable cheek riser, modern accessory mounting options, ambidextrous controls and an upgraded Version 6 gearbox underneath. For players who fancy something different from the usual M4 assault rifle, the SI-90 certainly makes an impression.

Starting at the muzzle, the EMG SI-90 is available in compact and extended configurations, each offering a slightly different take on the familiar P90 silhouette. Depending on the version, you'll find either a licensed Strike Industries Oppressor-style muzzle device or a longer PS90-inspired barrel arrangement. The compact configuration features a 10.4-inch outer barrel, while the extended model uses a 16-inch arrangement. Standard 14mm counter-clockwise (CCW) male threading provides compatibility with suitable airsoft tracer units, mock suppressors and other muzzle accessories, although the exact front-end arrangement should be checked against your chosen variant. The compact version is particularly appealing for CQB players who want to keep the overall length down, while the extended configuration offers a more substantial rifle-style appearance. Either way, the SI-90 retains the clever bullpup layout that places the gearbox and magazine behind the trigger, keeping the platform shorter than many conventional airsoft rifles with comparable barrel lengths.

Moving back from the muzzle, you'll find a modular aluminium handguard that gives the SI-90 considerably more accessory flexibility than a traditional P90. M-LOK mounting slots sit alongside 20mm Picatinny rail sections, allowing compatible tactical lights, aiming accessories and foregrips to be fitted according to your preferred setup. The handguard itself is removable, revealing an additional lower Picatinny rail underneath. That's a particularly useful detail if you prefer a stripped-back front end with a compact vertical grip rather than a larger handguard arrangement. The aluminium construction gives the front assembly a reassuringly solid feel, while the combination of M-LOK and Picatinny mounting systems means you're not restricted to one accessory format. It's a sensible approach for a modern airsoft rifle, especially when different players have very different ideas about how much equipment belongs on the front of their gun. Some prefer a torch and nothing else. Others seem determined to carry an entire hardware shop. The SI-90 gives you room to choose.

The aluminium upper receiver continues the modern tactical theme with a full-length 20mm Picatinny top rail, providing plenty of space for compatible red dot sights, magnifiers and other optics. Removable side rail sections offer additional mounting positions, while integrated emergency backup sights provide a useful alternative if you're not running an electronic optic. The charging handles are mirrored on both sides of the receiver and operate using steel bars, maintaining the ambidextrous character associated with the P90 platform. Their function on this electric airsoft rifle is largely cosmetic, but they add a satisfying mechanical detail to the overall design. The upper assembly can also be removed during field stripping, making access to certain components more straightforward. It's a welcome feature on an airsoft gun that looks complicated at first glance. Underneath the futuristic furniture, the SI-90 still follows a recognisable P90-style layout, and that familiarity makes it much easier to understand once you've spent a little time handling it.

The biggest change in how the SI-90 feels comes from the Strike Industries high-density polymer chassis. Rather than copying the traditional rounded P90 grip arrangement, this version uses a more upright, AR-15-inspired pistol grip angle with textured gripping surfaces and a distinctive thumbhole section connecting the grip to the stock. The result is a more conventional hand position that many airsoft players will find comfortable, particularly if they're used to modern M4-style rifles. The adjustable and removable cheek riser is another thoughtful addition, allowing you to tailor your head position to suit your chosen optic, protective goggles and face mask. At the rear, a rubber butt plate helps the fixed bullpup stock sit securely against your shoulder. Front and rear quick-detach sling mounting points provide convenient attachment positions for compatible QD sling swivels. It's an ergonomic package that feels considerably more adjustable than the original P90 layout, without losing the compact proportions that make bullpup airsoft guns so appealing.

Controls are refreshingly ambidextrous, with magazine release tabs, charging handles and firing controls arranged to accommodate different shooting preferences. The rotary fire selector sits beneath the trigger and provides SAFE, SEMI-AUTOMATIC and FULL-AUTOMATIC settings, along with programmable electronic options. In automatic mode, the traditional P90-style two-stage trigger arrangement allows a short trigger pull to produce a single shot, while pulling the trigger fully activates automatic firing. It's a distinctive feature of the platform and one that takes a little getting used to if you've spent years using conventional M4 selectors. The top-mounted magazine system is equally unusual compared with a standard assault rifle. Pull the two magazine release tabs rearwards and the magazine can be lifted from the upper receiver. Once you've practised the movement a few times, the arrangement becomes surprisingly straightforward. It's a different approach to magazine changes, certainly, but that's part of the appeal of running a P90-style airsoft submachine gun.

Inside the EMG Strike Industries SI-90 sits an upgraded Version 6 gearbox based around Tokyo Marui-compatible internal architecture. King Arms has fitted CNC-machined 18:1 steel gears, 9mm bushings and a reinforced polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack. These components provide a solid mechanical foundation for regular airsoft skirmishing, while the high-torque neodymium motor supplies the turning force needed to cycle the gearbox. The 18:1 gear ratio offers a familiar balance between mechanical leverage and cycling speed, making it a sensible choice for a compact Airsoft AEG. A quick-change spring system is also included, allowing compatible spring changes without the same level of gearbox disassembly required by older designs. That's particularly useful when adjusting a rifle to meet different site power limits, although any changes should be followed by a proper chronograph check. For an airsoft gun with such unusual external styling, the internal specification is reassuringly familiar and practical.

The real headline upgrade is the factory-installed EShooter Kestrel V6 Basic electronic trigger unit. Traditional P90 AEGs use a mechanical trigger linkage that can sometimes make the trigger feel long or disconnected compared with more conventional rifle platforms. The Kestrel system replaces that older arrangement with electronic control, providing a sharper and more consistent trigger response. Programmable firing options include three-round burst and binary trigger functionality, while five levels of adjustable electronic pre-cocking allow players to fine-tune how quickly the gearbox responds to the next trigger pull. Pre-cocking works by positioning the gearbox mechanism in preparation for firing, reducing the delay between pressing the trigger and the BB leaving the barrel. For semi-auto-only CQB games, that can make the SI-90 feel particularly lively. It's the sort of upgrade that makes sense on a compact bullpup, where quick handling and controlled follow-up shots are often more useful than simply chasing an enormous automatic firing rate. As always, programmable firing settings should be configured according to the manufacturer's instructions and your local site's rules.

The SI-90 uses a rotary adjustable HOP-up system, accessed through a small opening inside the chassis thumbhole. Turning the adjustment wheel changes the backspin applied to the BB, helping you tune its flight for a flatter trajectory and more consistent range. The steel inner barrel features a 6.05mm bore, with length depending on the version selected. Compact models use a 247mm inner barrel, while extended variants feature a longer 410mm arrangement. A quality 0.25g BB is a sensible starting point when setting up the HOP-up, although experimenting with suitable ammunition weights can help you find the best balance for your particular rifle. Battery access is through the rear of the chassis after removing the retaining pins and butt plate. The rifle is rear-wired with a Deans connector, and a 7.4V 1450mAh stick-style LiPo battery is recommended for a straightforward fit. A QR code inside the rifle provides access to EShooter programming information, which is particularly handy when you need to check an electronic setting during a game day.

Magazine compatibility is worth paying attention to before buying additional spares. The EMG SI-90 comes supplied with an approximately 100-round mid-cap magazine and accepts compatible King Arms and KRYTAC P90 AEG magazines. However, this model is stated as not being compatible with CYMA P90 magazines, so it's important not to assume every P90 magazine will fit simply because the external shape looks familiar. The top-loading arrangement keeps the magazine positioned above the receiver, maintaining the compact bullpup proportions that make the platform so distinctive. Overall, the SI-90 is an excellent option for airsoft enthusiasts who want the compact handling of a P90 with more modern ergonomics, accessory mounting and electronic trigger control. The aluminium upper assembly, Strike Industries chassis, adjustable cheek riser and upgraded Version 6 gearbox give it plenty of practical substance beneath its futuristic appearance. It's different, certainly. But in a sea of conventional M4 airsoft rifles, a well-equipped bullpup with this much character is a refreshing change.
