Secutor ASTRA IV Shadow AEG Airsoft Rifle with M-Lok in Desert Tan

Secutor ASTRA IV Shadow AEG Airsoft Rifle with M-LOK in Desert Tan

Some M4 airsoft rifles play it safe with their appearance. The Secutor ASTRA IV Shadow AEG Airsoft Rifle with M-LOK in Desert Tan takes a slightly different approach. Combining Coyote Tan furniture with contrasting Bronze metal components, this modern M4-style airsoft gun has a distinctive look that stands out from the usual all-black rifles. The aggressive receiver design, CNC aluminium handguard and adjustable stock give it a purposeful appearance, while the ARES EFCS electronic gearbox brings some genuinely useful performance features to the table. It's a smart-looking bit of kit, but there's plenty happening underneath that attractive exterior.

Starting at the front, the ASTRA IV Shadow features a metal muzzle assembly and a CNC-machined aluminium M-LOK handguard finished in Bronze. The M-LOK mounting slots provide plenty of flexibility for fitting compatible accessories, while the continuous 20mm Picatinny top rail offers mounting space for red dot sights, scopes and other suitable attachments. Secutor also includes a modular vertical foregrip with three adjustable configurations, allowing you to experiment with different support-hand positions. A nice touch, especially when moving between woodland skirmishes and tighter CQB environments. The muzzle features a 14mm threaded arrangement for compatible accessories, although the thread direction should be confirmed before purchasing a tracer unit or suppressor.

Moving towards the receiver, the Secutor ASTRA IV Shadow immediately shows off its modern AR-15-inspired styling. The metal receiver features a distinctive waffle-pattern magazine well, adding both visual character and extra texture around the magazine housing. Better still, the controls are fully ambidextrous. Left-handed players get the same convenient access to the fire selector, magazine release and functional bolt catch as right-handed players. Pulling back the charging handle opens the dust cover and locks the mock bolt rearwards, exposing the adjustable rotary hop-up. Once you've made your adjustments, pressing the bolt release sends everything forward with a satisfying mechanical clack. Little details like that make handling an airsoft rifle feel considerably more engaging.

Inside this electric airsoft assault rifle sits a reinforced Version 2 gearbox equipped with the ARES Electronic Fire Control System, commonly known as EFCS. Rather than relying on traditional mechanical trigger contacts, the electronic system manages trigger inputs through its integrated MOSFET arrangement. Combined with a high-torque motor and 18:1 steel gears, this setup is designed to deliver responsive trigger performance and dependable gearbox operation. Anyone who regularly plays semi-auto-only games will appreciate the benefits of a crisp electronic trigger. The programmable EFCS also supports additional firing configurations, including burst fire and semi-automatic-only operation, using a separately available ARES programming box. There's even electronic low-voltage protection to help safeguard compatible batteries against excessive depletion.

Another welcome feature is the quick-change spring system, which makes adjusting the rifle's power more convenient for experienced technicians. The ASTRA IV Shadow produces approximately 330 FPS using 0.20g BBs, with a stated variation of around 10%, although individual chronograph readings may differ. Up front, the adjustable rotary hop-up works alongside a pre-installed Maple Leaf 60-degree hop-up rubber and a shaped hop-up cam. That's a particularly useful combination for players who value consistent BB flight and reliable range. The hop-up applies backspin to each BB, helping maintain a flatter trajectory, while the approximately 370mm inner barrel features a 6.03mm bore. With properly adjusted hop-up and good-quality 0.25g BBs, this Airsoft AEG has a promising setup for controlled outdoor shooting.

Further back, the rifle features an ergonomic polymer pistol grip with textured surfaces and a comfortable modern grip angle. The enlarged trigger guard provides additional finger clearance when wearing gloves, while the flat, serrated trigger offers a consistent contact surface. At the rear sits a five-position adjustable polymer stock mounted on a metal buffer tube. Shorten it when navigating tight corners or extend it when you want a more relaxed shoulder position. Simple, practical and genuinely useful. The stock also incorporates a raised cheek area, textured butt plate and sling attachment options, including QD mounting points. At approximately 2.57kg, the ASTRA IV Shadow has a reassuring weight without feeling unnecessarily bulky, while its adjustable overall length of roughly 760mm to 850mm helps accommodate different players and loadout preferences.

Power comes from a rechargeable LiPo battery housed inside the buffer tube, with a rear-wired Deans/T-Plug connector providing the electrical connection. A compact 7.4V LiPo stick battery of approximately 1300mAh is recommended, although the battery and charger must be purchased separately. The rifle includes a 120-round M4-style mid-cap magazine, which uses an internal spring to feed BBs without the rattling associated with traditional high-capacity magazines. There's no winding wheel to fiddle with either. Simply load it using a compatible speedloader and you're ready for your next skirmish. Compatibility with suitable M4 AEG magazines also makes finding additional magazines straightforward, particularly for players who already own an AR-platform airsoft gun.

So, where does the Secutor ASTRA IV Shadow fit into your loadout? Its combination of a metal receiver, lightweight aluminium M-LOK handguard, programmable electronic trigger and adjustable furniture makes it a versatile choice for players who enjoy modern M4 platforms. The Bronze and Desert Tan colour scheme brings something different to the safe zone, while the Maple Leaf hop-up, ambidextrous controls and ARES EFCS provide practical benefits once the game begins. There's plenty of potential for personalisation, too, thanks to the accessory mounting options and familiar M4 magazine format. For anyone looking for a distinctive electric airsoft rifle with a well-equipped internal setup and plenty of character, the ASTRA IV Shadow deserves a closer look.
