The Well PRO MCX Rattler WG10-6M takes the compact PDW concept and squeezes it down into a seriously tidy gas blowback package. Built around the distinctive MCX Rattler-style layout, this airsoft rifle combines a shortened front end, micro M-LOK handguard and side-folding stock to create an airsoft gun that feels particularly at home in CQB. Get it shouldered and the attraction becomes obvious. There's very little rifle sticking out ahead of you, so moving through doorways, slicing around barricades and changing direction in cramped structures feels noticeably less cumbersome than it does with a conventional carbine.

Underneath those compact externals is one of the WG10-6M's most useful features: compatibility with the Tokyo Marui MWS ZET system architecture. Being a proper gas blowback airsoft rifle rather than an Airsoft AEG gives the Rattler a completely different personality when firing. Each pull of the trigger sends the bolt cycling through the receiver, producing mechanical movement, sound and recoil feedback that you can actually feel through the gun. There's a satisfying clunk to the action that makes shooting a GBBR much more involving. Empty the magazine and the bolt hold-open system stops the action to indicate you're out. Reload, operate the controls and you're back into the game. It's a more hands-on experience, and that's exactly why gas rifle players tend to get hooked on them.

Starting at the muzzle, the WG10-6M features a 14mm CCW thread for fitting compatible airsoft tracer units, muzzle devices and mock suppressors. There's obviously less real estate here than you'd find on a full-length assault rifle, but that's hardly a surprise. The construction feels reassuringly substantial in the hands. Well PRO uses a CNC machined aluminium upper receiver together with a metal lower receiver and CNC machined aluminium handguard. There's none of that hollow, lightweight feel you sometimes get from compact platforms. Instead, the WG10-6M has the density you'd expect from a full-metal GBB rifle, with its weight concentrated into a relatively small package. In practical use that compact balance is rather nice; the rifle stays close to your torso instead of behaving like a long lever every time you snap between targets.

Move back to the controls and Well PRO has paid attention to usability from either shoulder. The fire selector, magazine release and bolt catch are ambidextrous, making the Rattler friendly to left-handed players while also helping right-handed users during shoulder transitions. Ever switched shoulders behind cover and suddenly realised every useful control is now on the awkward side of the rifle? Exactly. An ambidextrous setup takes much of that faffing about out of the equation and suits the fast, close-range style of play that a compact gas blowback rifle naturally encourages.

The rear end is equally important to the Rattler's compact character. Rather than using the traditional M4 buffer tube and stock arrangement, the WG10-6M has a 1913 Picatinny rear interface fitted with a minimalist side-folding stock. Fold the stock alongside the receiver and the overall package becomes remarkably compact for storage, transport or movement through particularly confined areas. Swing it back out and you've got a proper shoulder contact point for more controlled shooting. It's simple, effective and avoids having a buffer tube permanently adding length behind the receiver.

Put all of those details together and the Well PRO MCX Rattler WG10-6M makes a compelling little CQB-focused GBBR. You get full-metal construction, an aluminium M-LOK front end, Picatinny optic mounting, a 14mm CCW muzzle thread, fully ambidextrous primary controls and that extremely useful folding stock. More importantly, the MWS-compatible system means this unusual airsoft rifle isn't isolated from one of the hobby's most established gas blowback ecosystems.
