A&K - PKM Airsoft AEG Rifle with Sound Drum Magazine in Real Wood Finish

The A&K PKM Airsoft AEG is not the sort of rifle you casually sling over one shoulder and forget about. At approximately 1190mm long and weighing around 7.3kg, this is a proper heavyweight airsoft support gun with the size, shape and unmistakable presence of the PKM general-purpose machine gun. The predominantly metal construction gives it a suitably substantial character, while the Real Wood Finish furniture adds the traditional appearance that suits this platform so well. For Russian-inspired airsoft loadouts, support-gunner kits or players who simply fancy something very different from another AR-style airsoft rifle, the A&K PKM certainly makes an impression.

Starting at the muzzle, the long front assembly features a removable flash hider, adjustable front sight and mock gas system before running back towards the receiver. Underneath sits one of the most useful pieces of equipment on a support weapon of this weight: a swivelling bipod. It can move from side to side, helping the PKM settle naturally when you're firing from uneven woodland terrain, barricades or other supported positions. When it's time to move, the bipod folds back and locks together. With roughly 7.3kg of airsoft gun in your hands, you'll quickly appreciate being able to plant it down and let the bipod take some of the workload.

Inside, A&K has given this Airsoft AEG a support-gun-focused internal setup. A high-torque motor is combined with a bore-up cylinder system, reinforced cylinder head, 8mm steel bushings, ball-bearing spring guide and low-resistance wiring. There's also a quick spring change arrangement, making access to the main spring less involved than stripping down many traditional support weapon gearboxes. The listed configuration uses an M130 spring and produces approximately 440 FPS with 0.20g BBs. That's substantial power, so UK players should pay particular attention here: this figure can exceed site limits, especially for fully automatic replicas, and the rifle may require adjustment before it can be used at your chosen airsoft site.

Another interesting feature is the adjustable MOSFET rate-of-fire control. On a support Airsoft AEG, controlling how quickly the gearbox cycles can be genuinely useful rather than simply being another specification to stick on the box. A slower, steadier stream of BBs can make far more sense when providing covering fire, while the adjustable system gives you some control over how the PKM behaves. After all, a support gun isn't much use if you've enthusiastically sent half your ammunition into one particularly threatening-looking shrub within the opening minutes of a game.

Speaking of ammunition, the supplied drum magazine is where the A&K PKM really embraces its support-gunner role. Capacity is approximately 5000 rounds, so you're carrying a serious quantity of BBs before needing a complete refill. The motor-fed electric winding system helps keep ammunition feeding during sustained automatic fire, while the magazine includes both a main filling compartment and a separate quick-fill opening. That quick access is particularly handy during longer games because you can top up the drum without completely removing it from the airsoft rifle. Five thousand rounds sounds excessive right up until you're responsible for keeping an entire lane covered. Then it starts sounding rather sensible.

Under the receiver's top cover you'll find the adjustable hop-up system. This allows the amount of backspin applied to the BB to be tuned for your chosen ammunition, helping achieve a more stable trajectory and useful range. The battery is also housed within the upper receiver, with an 8.4V Mini listed for this setup. Controls remain appropriately straightforward for a PKM-style support gun, with safe and fully automatic firing modes rather than the usual safe, semi and auto arrangement found on an assault rifle. Select automatic, settle onto the bipod and the purpose of this airsoft gun becomes pretty obvious.

Further back, the PKM profile continues with an AK-style pistol grip and characteristic rear stock arrangement. A flip-up shoulder rest provides additional support when you're settled into a firing position, while adjustable front and rear iron sights allow the sight picture to be set up to your preference. A mock charging handle and carry handle add further detail to the exterior. None of it feels dainty, and that's rather the point. This Airsoft AEG has the visual character of a machine gun rather than a conventional rifle, and its dimensions reinforce that every time you pick it up.

On the skirmish field, the A&K PKM makes the most sense when played as a support weapon rather than treated like an oversized assault rifle. Find a useful firing position, deploy the bipod and use that huge 5000-round drum to cover approaches or support teammates while they move. Carrying 7.3kg around all day takes commitment – there's no getting around that – but the weight is also part of what makes a full-size PKM replica such an immersive bit of airsoft kit. When it's resting on the bipod with the drum fitted and the long metal receiver stretching out in front of you, it looks and feels completely different from a lightweight carbine.

For players looking for a full-size airsoft support gun with enormous ammunition capacity, substantial metal construction and old-school PKM styling, the A&K offers a lot to get stuck into. The high-torque motor, bore-up cylinder arrangement, quick spring change system and adjustable MOSFET provide a useful internal foundation, while the electric 5000-round drum handles the ammunition demands of sustained fire. Add the Real Wood Finish furniture and that imposing 1190mm overall length and you've got an Airsoft AEG with bags of personality. It's big, it's heavy and it's unapologetically built around the support-gunner experience. Exactly what a PKM should be.
