AWCUSTOM/EMG/TTI Sand Viper 2011 Gas Blowback Airsoft Training Pistol in Bronze / Black
The AWCUSTOM/EMG/TTI Sand Viper 2011 Gas Blowback Airsoft Training Pistol in Bronze / Black is instantly recognisable to anyone with an interest in modern competition pistols or John Wick: Chapter 4. Officially licensed by Taran Tactical Innovations and produced by AW Custom under the EMG programme, this GBB pistol recreates the distinctive Sand Viper with its bronze and black colour scheme, integrated compensator and beautifully machined slide. It's certainly an attention-grabber, but there's proper skirmish functionality underneath the Hollywood connection. Green Gas operation, an adjustable hop-up and a 28-round magazine make this airsoft pistol every bit as enjoyable to run as it is to look at.
Starting at the front, the single-port aluminium compensator gives the Sand Viper its unmistakable profile and flows neatly into the outer barrel and slide assembly. The outer barrel incorporates an 11mm CW internal thread, allowing a compatible tracer or suppressor to be installed with the appropriate adapter. The compensator is primarily there to reproduce the appearance of the TTI design rather than tame airsoft recoil, but visually it absolutely nails the competition-pistol aesthetic. Underneath, the frame incorporates a Weaver/Picatinny accessory rail, providing space for a compatible pistol light or other suitable rail-mounted accessory.
The CNC-machined aluminium slide is one of the highlights. Aggressive serrations and carefully positioned lightening cuts give it a premium appearance while removing unnecessary moving mass from the blowback assembly. That becomes noticeable when you start shooting. Rather than feeling slow and cumbersome, the slide snaps backwards and returns into battery with a crisp, lively action. Ever fired a GBB pistol where the slide feels like it's cycling through treacle? This is the opposite. The lighter aluminium assembly gives the Sand Viper a responsive character that's particularly enjoyable during quick strings of semi-automatic fire.
Another major difference between the Sand Viper and more traditional 2011 airsoft handgun designs is the optics-ready arrangement. The slide is cut for an RMR-style optic setup and comes with a cover plate, mounting screws and the relevant hardware in the package. Fit a compatible miniature red dot and the pistol becomes a natural choice for practical airsoft shooting or fast CQB target transitions. The optic-ready design also suits the Sand Viper's competition roots beautifully; a huge tactical optic perched awkwardly above the slide would rather spoil the effect, whereas a compact red dot sits neatly into the overall profile.
Move down to the grip and things remain firmly competition-focused. The textured polymer grip has aggressive stippling designed to keep the airsoft gun planted in your hand, including when you're wearing gloves or playing in damp conditions. A generous flared magazine well surrounds the bottom of the grip and helps guide the 28-round Green Gas magazine into position during reloads. There's also an enlarged magazine release within easy reach. Get a reload slightly off-centre and the magwell gives you a little extra margin for error – one of those features that seems decorative until you're trying to swap magazines quickly with another player closing in.
The familiar 2011-style safety arrangement is retained, including an ambidextrous thumb safety and functional grip safety. That makes the controls accessible from either side while preserving the mechanical character expected from this style of GBB pistol. The trigger and control layout sit naturally beneath the hand, and the relatively light approximate weight of 710g helps the Sand Viper move quickly between targets. Despite the compensator and 220mm overall length, it doesn't feel like an unwieldy hand cannon. The balance is surprisingly nimble – more sports car than armoured truck.
Inside, an adjustable hop-up allows the backspin applied to the BB to be tuned for your chosen ammunition. The pistol is suitable for standard 6mm airsoft BBs, with weights from around 0.20g through to 0.28g providing plenty of room for experimentation. For skirmishing, quality 0.25g or 0.28g BBs are worth trying once the hop has been properly set. Green Gas power produces approximately 300–320 FPS depending on BB weight, temperature, gas pressure and hop adjustment. As with any GBB pistol, expect performance to vary between a warm summer game and a properly chilly British morning.
The supplied 28-round Green Gas magazine gives the Sand Viper a useful capacity for both practical shooting and skirmishing. Combined with the lightweight CNC aluminium slide, the gas blowback system provides a satisfying recoil impulse without wasting the pistol's energy trying to haul an excessively heavy slide backwards. The result feels crisp and controlled. The Sand Viper also benefits from its relationship with the established Hi-Capa/2011 style of airsoft handgun, making it an interesting platform for players who enjoy maintaining and personalising their GBB pistols rather than treating them as disposable kit.
The AWCUSTOM/EMG/TTI Sand Viper 2011 Bronze / Black manages to balance movie-inspired looks with genuinely useful airsoft features. Official Taran Tactical Innovations licensing and that unmistakable bronze finish will understandably attract collectors and John Wick fans first, but the adjustable hop-up, optics-ready CNC slide, 28-round Green Gas magazine, textured grip and accessory rail make it a capable airsoft pistol in its own right. It's flashy without being a gimmick, mechanically satisfying and wonderfully quick in the hand. For a modern competition-style GBB pistol with bags of personality, the Sand Viper is a very difficult one to overlook.
