Cybergun CANiK TP9 Elite Combat Gas Blowback Airsoft Pistol in Desert Tan
The Cybergun CANiK TP9 Elite Combat Gas Blowback Airsoft Pistol in Desert Tan brings together three names with plenty of character: Cybergun, CANiK and Salient Arms International. The result is a modern GBB pistol that looks competition-ready without forgetting its tactical roots. The Desert Tan polymer frame contrasts beautifully with the darker slide and controls, while SAI-inspired details give this airsoft gun a noticeably more customised appearance than a standard service pistol. It looks purposeful rather than flashy. Pick it up, though, and the ergonomics are what really start to make an impression.
The high-density polymer frame has been shaped around a comfortable, high shooting grip, with an undercut trigger guard allowing your hand to sit close to the bore line. Crackle-style texturing along the sides combines with more linear texturing across the front and back straps, giving the TP9 Elite Combat plenty of purchase without making the grip unnecessarily abrasive. At approximately 850g with its metal components and gas magazine contributing to the weight, the pistol feels substantial in the hand. There's a reassuring balance to it too; point towards a target and it doesn't feel nose-heavy or cumbersome during quick transitions.
Up front, one of the standout features is the Salient-style fluted outer barrel. The barrel features SAI-inspired detailing and terminates in a useful 14mm CCW thread, with a thread protector supplied to keep everything tidy when you're running the pistol bare. That standard 14mm counter-clockwise thread makes fitting compatible airsoft suppressors and tracer units considerably easier, with no separate thread adapter required for many common accessories. For a CQB airsoft pistol, that's a cracking addition. Screw on a tracer for an evening game and the TP9 suddenly takes on an entirely different personality.
The slide continues the modern theme with deep cocking serrations positioned for confident manipulation. Those angled cuts aren't simply decoration; they give your fingers somewhere positive to grip when racking the slide, performing a chamber check or clearing the pistol while wearing gloves. The slide is also optics-ready, with a removable cover allowing a compatible red-dot sight to be installed using the appropriate mounting plate. Prefer traditional sights? The pistol retains a clear set of iron sights, so there's no requirement to add an optic before heading onto the field.
Controls are particularly well thought out for players who don't necessarily shoot right-handed. Ambidextrous slide stop levers are positioned on both sides of the frame, while the enlarged magazine release can be reversed to suit the user. That might sound like a minor specification until you've spent a game awkwardly reaching around a pistol designed entirely for somebody else's dominant hand. Beneath the grip, a CNC-machined Salient-style flared magazine well helps funnel the 22-round gas magazine into place. Miss the opening slightly during a hurried reload and the flare helps guide things home. Simple, but useful.
The trigger system is another reason the CANiK TP9 Elite Combat stands out among modern gas blowback pistols. It uses a striker-fired arrangement designed to provide a distinct break followed by a short, noticeable reset. In practical use, that makes controlled follow-up shots feel intuitive because you can feel where the trigger resets rather than releasing it all the way forward every time. Paired with the snappy gas blowback action, it gives the BB pistol plenty of mechanical feedback. There's something satisfying about a sidearm where the controls click, reset and cycle with purpose rather than feeling vague and spongy.
Inside you'll find an adjustable gear-style hop-up unit, allowing the trajectory to be tuned for different BB weights and playing conditions. Access is gained by field stripping the pistol, with the takedown arrangement following the familiar pattern found on many modern striker-fired handguns. Once adjusted correctly, the hop-up works alongside the gas blowback system to provide consistent semi-automatic performance. Expect approximately 310–325 FPS depending on gas pressure, BB weight and ambient temperature. As with any Green Gas GBB pistol, a warm summer afternoon and a frosty winter morning can produce noticeably different results, so chrono before play rather than treating the quoted figure as absolute.
The underside of the frame incorporates a Picatinny accessory rail, opening up plenty of possibilities for compatible pistol lights and other rail-mounted accessories. Combined with the optics-ready slide and threaded outer barrel, it makes the TP9 Elite Combat a very configurable airsoft handgun straight from the box. You can keep things clean and lightweight or build a full CQB setup with an optic, light and tracer. The platform doesn't force you down either route, which is part of its appeal.
For players wanting a modern airsoft pistol with genuine personality, the Cybergun CANiK TP9 Elite Combat Desert Tan has a lot going for it. Official licensing, Salient Arms styling, a striker-fired trigger system, ambidextrous controls, adjustable hop-up and Green Gas blowback performance all come together in a package that feels properly thought through. The 14mm CCW threaded barrel and optics-ready slide add useful flexibility, while the comfortable textured frame makes the pistol enjoyable to actually use rather than simply admire. Modern, slightly aggressive and refreshingly different from another conventional black sidearm – the TP9 Elite Combat brings plenty of flavour to a skirmish loadout.
