Officially licensed by CANiK and manufactured by Armorer Works, this GBB pistol wears a tactical grey finish contrasted by gold controls and detailing. The trigger, magazine release, slide release, takedown controls and flared magazine well all receive the gold treatment. It certainly stands apart from the usual black airsoft handgun, but the colour scheme still looks purposeful rather than excessively flashy.

Pick it up and the SFx RIVAL immediately feels like a substantial airsoft pistol. At approximately 817g and 210mm long, there is enough weight to give it a convincing presence without making it feel like a brick hanging from your holster all day. The aluminium slide runs over a high-density polymer frame, giving you that familiar combination of solid upper assembly and comfortable lower frame. Armorer Works has also done a good job with the ergonomics. Aggressive grip texturing, a textured backstrap and the undercut trigger guard let your hand sit naturally high on the pistol. During fast strings of shots, that higher grip makes the RIVAL surprisingly easy to keep under control.

Moving to the front, the 110mm inner barrel sits inside a distinctive outer barrel equipped with an 11mm CW female thread. With a suitable adapter, this gives players the option of fitting compatible tracer units or suppressors. A tracer on a competition-inspired airsoft gun like this makes plenty of sense for CQB and low-light games, where watching the BBs streak towards the target is half the fun. Underneath, the frame incorporates a standard 20mm Picatinny accessory rail, providing plenty of space for a compatible tactical torch or other rail-mounted accessory.

The slide is where the CANiK SFx RIVAL really starts showing its competition influences. It can also be reversed to better suit left-handed users. The gold flared magazine well is more than decorative trim; its widened opening helps funnel a fresh magazine into the grip during hurried reloads. It is one of those details you appreciate more once you're actually using the airsoft gun rather than admiring it in the box.

Performance can be tuned through the adjustable gear-style hop-up, accessed when the pistol is field stripped. This allows you to dial in the hop for your preferred BB weight and find a flatter, more consistent trajectory. Quality 0.25g BBs are a sensible starting point for this GBB pistol. Powered by 12KG Gas, the SFx RIVAL operates in semi-automatic with a satisfyingly sharp blowback action. The combination of its comfortable grip angle, approximately 817g weight and responsive trigger makes transitioning between targets feel natural, particularly in CQB or practical pistol-style shooting.
