Description

G&G Armament - TR16 GMS Mk II GT Advanced 13.5" Airsoft AEG Rifle in Black (ETU + MOSFET)

The G&G Armament TR16 GMS Mk II GT Advanced 13.5" is a full-length Airsoft AEG aimed squarely at players who prefer a substantial rifle with plenty of usable rail space and a strong electronic package straight from the box. Weighing approximately 2910g and built around a full metal receiver, it has that reassuringly solid feel you expect when picking up a premium G&G airsoft rifle. There's some proper presence here without the rifle feeling needlessly bulky. The familiar AR-style layout also means most players will feel at home with it almost immediately.

Starting at the front, the 13.5-inch CNC aluminium M-LOK handguard gives the TR16 a clean, modern profile while leaving plenty of room for accessories. A foregrip, weapon light, bipod or sling hardware can be positioned where it actually suits your grip rather than where the rifle dictates. The continuous 20mm top rail provides generous space for a red dot, scope or other compatible sighting equipment. Better still, the slim M-LOK arrangement keeps the handguard comfortable in the hand without covering every surface in chunky unused rail. After carrying a rifle around a woodland site for several hours, little things like that start to matter.

Tucked inside the front end is a 380mm inner barrel, which suits the full-size character of this airsoft assault rifle nicely. G&G rates the rifle at approximately 330-350 FPS when tested with 0.20g BBs, putting the emphasis firmly on a versatile field setup. A longer inner barrel isn't some magic wand for range – hop performance, BB quality and BB weight still have plenty to say about that – but 380mm gives this airsoft gun a sensible foundation for consistent outdoor shooting. Get the hop dialled in with a good-quality BB and the TR16 feels much more at home picking shots through woodland than frantically squeezing around tiny CQB doorways.

The interesting stuff really starts when you look inside. G&G has fitted the TR16 GMS Mk II GT Advanced with its reinforced next-generation gearbox, an Electronic Trigger Unit and an inline MOSFET with battery protection. Rather than relying solely on an old-school mechanical trigger arrangement, the ETU electronically handles the trigger input, helping provide a crisp and responsive firing cycle. There's also programmable 3-round burst functionality for players who like an extra firing option. Ever had a mechanical trigger feel like you're clicking an elderly computer mouse? Yeah, this setup is a different experience. The electronic system gives the rifle a noticeably more modern character.

The reinforced gearbox also incorporates a quick-change spring system. That's the sort of feature that doesn't look particularly exciting in photographs but becomes very welcome when maintenance or tuning time rolls around. Changing the main spring is considerably less involved than dealing with a traditional gearbox design that demands a major strip-down for the same job. Naturally, any spring change needs to leave the Airsoft AEG within the power limits of the site where you're playing, but having easier access makes the platform much friendlier for experienced players who maintain their own kit.

G&G has paid attention to feeding as well, using a double-feed channel design intended to improve BB feeding consistency and reliability. It sounds like a small internal detail, yet anyone who's spent a game listening to an AEG cycle without reliably sending BBs downrange knows how quickly feeding problems spoil the fun. A rifle can have all the fancy furniture in the world, but if it feeds like a temperamental vending machine, nobody cares. The TR16's feeding arrangement complements that reinforced gearbox and 380mm barrel nicely, concentrating on the fundamentals that actually matter during a game.

Moving back to the controls, the fire selector, magazine release and bolt release are all ambidextrous. Left-handed players get obvious benefits, but right-handed users shouldn't overlook this either. Switching shoulders around barricades, trees or awkward firing positions becomes far more natural when the controls remain accessible from either side. It's particularly handy during longer outdoor games where you're constantly changing position rather than standing square-on to the same piece of cover. The familiar AR-style ergonomics keep everything intuitive, while the ambidextrous layout gives this electric airsoft rifle a little more flexibility than a basic one-sided setup.

As a complete package, the G&G TR16 GMS Mk II GT Advanced 13.5" makes the most sense for players looking for a serious full-length airsoft rifle rather than an ultra-compact CQB build. The combination of a full metal receiver, CNC aluminium M-LOK handguard, reinforced gearbox, quick-change spring, ETU and inline MOSFET gives you a strong specification before you've started changing anything. At roughly 330-350 FPS on 0.20g BBs, it's clearly pitched towards skirmish use, while the 2910g weight gives it enough heft to feel convincing without turning every game into an upper-body workout.

There's plenty of room to personalise the rifle later, too. The 13.5-inch M-LOK handguard and uninterrupted 20mm top rail make a great starting point for anything from a simple red-dot woodland setup to a longer-range configuration with magnified optics, foregrip and bipod. Personally, this is the sort of Airsoft AEG I'd keep fairly clean at first, play a few games with, then add accessories once I knew exactly what was missing. It's very easy to bolt half the safe zone onto a rifle and discover you've built yourself a small anchor. The TR16 already provides the important ingredients: modern electronics, practical controls, useful barrel length and a sturdy full-metal platform. Everything else can follow.
